OK, so only a few weeks into 2018 and it’s been “A YEAR” already for some of us oldies. Yup, turning 50 has been the talk of the season with many of my friends out there and we weren’t sure how to celebrate it. Let’s just say it’ll be ALL YEAR!
Well the fabulous Melinda may inspire others to celebrate with some style like she did with the help of some very talented pros. I think it’s safe to say that no matter what your age, there’s nothing quite as much fun as a throwback 80’s party. Complete with big, crimped hair, poofy prom dresses and a good dose of A-Ha, Cyndi Lauper and the Police! You can be sure we, well at least I was, that the vendors were all dancing during setup with the help of kick-butt DJ/VJ Marc & neon lighting from VARIO Productions.
SO MUCH FUN! Just throw in some MTV videos and you get the absolute best 80’s party.
What better way to celebrate turning 50 than reliving your favorite era of high school? Dani of HauteFetes planned Melinda’s fab 80s-prom party themed “Pretty in Pink”, which is exactly what Melinda envisioned for her big bash! Her friends all turned up in style to help her celebrate at the tres chic downtown venue, The Ultimate Skybox. Local print designers at Whimsique created groovy cassette tape invitations to set the tone for the bash and get guests excited to get Footloose.
Guests enjoyed fun food stations by The Abbey Catering titled “CHIPs and Salsa Baja taco bar” and “Close Encounters of the Mashed Potato kind”. A glittery prom balloon arch, sequin table cloths and ghost chairs ensured the party was loaded with fun 80s décor. Theme decor was provided by Concepts Event Design, Chiavari Guys, & La Tavola Linen. The night ended on a sweet note with our decadent array of delicious desserts, all pink & black to keep the pretty in pink theme going. Big hair, fishnet bows, neon lighting and delicious treats, what more do you need? Much fun was had by all!!
