Who doesn’t love flowers on a B.A.C. (Big Ass Cake)? Whether the flowers are fresh or made of edible wafer paper or sugar, we love decorating with them for weddings. When Taylor and Fey requested a cake design that demanded HUNDREDS of sugar flowers, we were thrilled. Rather than asking for flowers to hug the sides of the cake as normal flowers would, the couple requested this cascade of flowers would seemingly float around the outskirts of the entire cake! (Challenge accepted… now, how the HECK was that going to happen?)

We put our heads together and decided we might benefit from a quick call to a Big Gun (aka our friend Dawn Stone Kropp, a well-known floral and home designer in Coronado – of Embellishmint Floral and Emerald Flamingo fame) for some floral wiring guidance. Dawn and Sweet Cheeks owner, Elaine, spent hours planning, angling, wiring, placing, filling in, re-placing, and finally completing this masterpiece for Taylor and Fey’s Rancho Valencia wedding! The resulting cake was breathtakingly beautiful and so perfectly captured by Michael Radford Photography.

Thanks to the creativity of Chloe Bubion of Aster & Park Events based in Orange County and the team at Signature Party Rentals, this stunning chocolate whip and strawberry cream filled vanilla bean cake enjoyed a uniquely gorgeous stage-like presentation all its own. The simple elegance of this dark wooden framed cake cabana draped in delicate sheers and, of course, surrounded by the majestic greenery and floral at Rancho Valencia created a lovely backdrop for Taylor and Fey’s sweetheart table and a unique way to show off their beautiful cake. I mean REALLY, who doesn’t want a cake cabana??
